Batman Year One Movie Review.
The first thing I noticed when I watched the Batman Year One movie was that its total run time is only over one hour long. I did not do any research to what the Batman Year One movie was all about except for its trailer that I watched from Youtube. The animation style for the movie was very unique and I was quite excited to see my favorite superhero on big screen kicking ass and defending a crime infested city. My eyes were shocked and my rating for the Batman Year One movie fell below what I had hoped to give it. Please stop right now and watch the Batman Year One Animated film in the link below.

The beginning would begin with a narration by lieutenant Gordon (before he became commissioner) which leads me to think that we would get to see Gotham and Batman through lieutenant Gordon’s eyes. Byran Cranston plays an excellent Jim Gordon throughout the movie but unfortunately I cannot say the same about Batman/Bruce Wayne. Brian Mackenzie would voice Batman and would go on to being (in my opinion) the worst voice for Batman in history. They should have brought back Kevin Conroy, the famous voice of Batman, to play the role in Batman Year One Even though it would be more costly to employ Kevin Conroy for the part, it would please all the Batman fans around the world, and yes, Batman has a legion of fans. Other actors portrayal of characters such as Catwoman/Selena Kyle, Carmine Falcone and many other miscellaneous characters in the Batman Universe were great.
As mentioned above, the overall run time of the movie was very disappointing. I felt like there was not enough time for viewers to get into the character and for the characters to develop. It felt very rushed and in a hurry to finish. Coming from its predecessor Batman Under The Hood, I had extremely high expectations for Batman Year one.
Overall, I would recommend this Batman animated film for Batman fans all over the world, but for someone just getting into the Batman mythos, please disregard this movie and start with a batman movie or show that has Kevin Conroy as Batman/Bruce Wayne. I would give this five out of ten and place it just behind Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm.
