Justice League Doom Review
Batman Movies – Justice League Doom is the newest animated movie in a long and successful line of DC animated films. Justice League Doom is the thirteenth animated film from Dc Comics and a very successful adaptation from comics to animated film. Marvel is falling behind and Dc Comics is pumping out movie after movie to steer the fans to Dc Comics. It seems like Marvel is focusing on the big screen with their upcoming movie The Avengers and other upcoming projects. According to Wikipedia.Org, Marvel has launched a total of 8 animated films and the last one was in 2011 for Thor: Tales of Asgard – which was great but the super hero fan base is growing and we need more. Dc Comics has now launched 13 animated film with 2 upcoming films titled Superman Versus The Elite and The Dark Knight Returns – which I assume is a continuation from The Dark Knight Rises.
Justice League Doom Plot
As mentioned in another post, Justice League Doom is derived from the Justice League story Arc titled JLA tower of Babel which focuses on Batman’s plans for the JLA team for if they go rogue. Batman has detailed plans on neutralizing each and every main JLA member hidden in his Bat-cave hard drive. The enemy team, calling themselves Legion Of Doom, would steal the plans and use the plans to take down the Justice League.
In Justice League Doom, Vandal Savage is the founding leader for the team whom employs Cheetah, Metallo, Mirror Master, Ma’alefa’ak, and Bane to neutralize each member of the JLA team with the plans stolen from Batman. The Legion of Doom succeeds in stealing the plans and begins to take out the JLA team one by one until Batman escapes from his parent’s coffin (whom Bane traps Batman in with his dead parents) and alerts the whole JLA team of the situation. Cyborg makes a great appearance and assists the JLA team. Since Cyborg isn’t a member of the JLA, there is no data on him thus making Cyborg a great ally against the Legion Of Doom.

Vandal Savage brings together a carefully chosen team whom have a personal vendetta against a member of the JLA. (SPOILER) Vandal Savage plans on destroying half of the world with a nuclear strike to the sun causing a flare that would hit half of the world and killing billions. Vandal offers each member of the Legion 100 million dollars for taking out a JLA member and a place in his new world – they would only have to answer to him.
After the members of the JLA have been saved and everyone regroups, they track the Legion of Doom to their hideout and attacks the Legion. The JLA discovers the mastermind behind the attack is Vandal Savage, an ancient man that is as old as the dinosaurs and is known to be invincible.
After the JLA neutralizes the Legion, Vandal Savage managed to successfully activate his weapon to take out half the world using the suns’ flares. The Team has a greater threat on their hands and with the joint teamwork and the assist of Cyborg, they manage to avert the danger and save the planet once again.

At the Hall of Justice (the JLA’s floating satellite HQ) the team induct their newest member, Cyborg, to the team. The JLA also votes on Batman’s position in the JLA due to his secret plans to neutralize the team if they were to ever go rogue. Before the team decides, Batman makes his decision to leave the JLA for the belief that he is right in his decision and if the JLA can’t see that then he does not belong to the JLA. Right before Batman leaves, Superman approaches him and gives Batman the kryptonite bullet Telling Batman that his fears and decision is just and is respected by Superman.
Justice League Doom Review
This Justice League Doom animated movie has been a long wait and after finishing the Justice League Doom movie, I was extremely impressed. Dc Comics did very well in telling the story of Batman’s plan of neutralizing the JLA. Even though the members of the Legion of Doom is different, it was very well played out. I am a fan of back-stories but there were many villains that didn’t get that but the main villain, Vandal Savage, got his.Vandal Savage is a caveman from when the earth was still young, whom finds a meteorite that gave him the intellect of a mastermind and the ability of invincibility and long life. We still do not know the extent of his powers and if he can ever be killed.
The story is simple but fun, action packed and extremely enjoyable. The voice of the super heros are the best of the best. Tim Daly as Superman, Kevin Conroy as Batman, Susan Eisenberg as Wonder Woman, Micheal Rosenbaum as the Flash (Barry Allen) and Nathen Fillion as Green Lantern (Hal Jordan).
We all grew up with Kevin Conroy as the main voice of Batman. When we hear his voice, we know from our childhood that this is Batman. Due to that fact, Batman: Year One was not as great as it should be because Batman’s voice was done by another actor. Batman is as broody as ever in Justice League Doom. When Bane violates the grave of the parents of Bruce Wayne, We see a side of Batman that we haven’t seen in a long while. Batman took that personally and is on a mission to destroy whoever that defaced his parents graves.
The best line in the whole movie is at the end. The JLA is deciding on the position of Batman within the JLA and before they can come to a decision Batman says: “If you people cant see the potential danger of an out of control Justice League I don’t need to wait for a vote, I don’t belong here.”
Batman’s distrust is more evident in Justice League Doom than in any other movie. Batman would Rather leave the group and fight solo rather than in a group that does not share his beliefs. We all know that even though Batman is now a solo hero again, he still has those plans to take down his old teammates for if the time ever comes.
